My daughter sent me a TikTok of a similar recipe so I looked up a couple of recipes and changed a few things to make it my own. The syrup is optional but not even necessary because they are THAT good (however the powdered sugar topping is a must for the finishing touch)!
STUFFED CINNAMON HAWAIIAN ROLLS
INGREDIENTS
24 Hawaiian Rolls
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup (+ 1 Tablespoon) butter
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
3 teaspoons vanilla
CINNAMON FILLING (& TOPPING)
1 cup of butter, melted
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons brown sugar
CREAM CHEESE FILLING
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoon vanilla
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees and grease a 9 x 13 pan.
Melt 1 Tablespoon of butter and spread on the bottom of the pan.
Arrange rolls in pan and and make a cross on top of each roll (only cut 2/3 of the way down because the filling will go inside).
Melt 1 cup butter, cinnamon, 1 tsp. vanilla and brown sugar and spoon a little of the mixture into each roll.
Beat together cream cheese, egg, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla.
Place mixture into each roll (if you don't have a cupcake injector you can use a Ziploc bag and cut a corner to squeeze the mixture inside).
Bring remaining melted butter mixture to a boil and immediately pour over the rolls.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until rolls are golden brown on top.
Sprinkle powdered sugar and syrup on top and enjoy!
