Peanut Blossoms

A classic and a must-have on my cookie trays each year! A delicious peanut butter cookie rolled in sugar and topped with a Hershey Kiss.


PEANUT BLOSSOMS

  • 1 ½ cups flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 2/3 cup Crisco butter-flavor shortening

  • ½ cup peanut butter (I use Jif)

  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 Tablespoons Milk

  • 1 or 2 bags Hershey Kisses

  • Sugar (to roll dough in)

Directions:

  1. Sift together flour, salt, soda, cream together shortening, peanut butter and brown sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Beat well. Blend in the dry ingredients gradually and mix thoroughly.

  2. Shape by rounded teaspoons into balls. Roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and place a solid chocolate kiss on top of each cookie. Return to oven. Bake 2-5 minutes longer. Cool. Makes about 3 dozen.
